Transportation Maintainer 3 (Skilled Tree Climber)
at the Norwich facility. Bring your CDL class A/B with tank endorsement, MEC, and any tree climbing licenses to this on‑site opportunity.
Responsibilities
Perform routine tree and landscape maintenance along roadways.
Remove hazardous, dead, or dying trees to improve safety and visibility.
Trim or cut back trees, limbs, and brush to maintain clear zones and road signage visibility.
Assess trees for hazards and determine if trimming or removal is needed.
Use climbing gear, safety lines, and specific knots safely in trees or from a bucket truck.
Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, pole pruners, harnesses, bucket trucks, and other safety gear.
Ensure public and crew safety during all tree operations.
Participate in snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, guardrail installation, and construction equipment operation as needed.
Eligibility Requirements
Current, valid CDL class A or B with tank endorsement, with MEC at the time of interview.
Willingness to accept assignment to emergency duties (including winter overtime) and possess a 20‑mile residency from the job location.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of using climbing gear, fall protection, bucket truck operation, and tree assessment.
Ability to work Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:00 pm (1st shift) full‑time (40 hrs/week).
Must be a current CT state agency employee for at least six months full‑time service (or equivalent).
Submit a copy of Master Application at interview (if required).
Position Highlights
Full‑time, 40 hrs/week.
1st Shift: 7:30 am‑4:00 pm.
On‑site at Norwich Maintenance Facility.
Participation in emergency snow and ice removal.
