Clinical Lab Scientist – St. Agnes Hospital Job Summary : Under general direction, interpret and report test results. Perform routine and complex laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols. Perform chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to complex tests.

Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians.

Escalate unusual, critical, or abnormal results.

Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.

Maintain accuracy of equipment and reagents by performing preventive maintenance procedures.

Assist providers in choosing appropriate lab test.

Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.

Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments.

Assists with proper storage of hazardous materials.

Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars to stay informed of new developments.

Assist in the proficiency testing program in the lab.

Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Associate’s degree or equivalent years of experience and education.

No formal experience required.

Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

Use of vision, depth perception, hearing, and speech for communication and alarm detection.

Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.

Occasional lifting/carrying or pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.

Rare climbing.

Shift & Schedule Variable shift

Employment Type Employee – Full‑time, 40 hours per week, weekend and holiday rotation.
