The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care (CPC) is the leading emergency and prehospital academic center on the West Coast. The Center is dedicated to advancing EMS systems and methods. We teach, test, and certify individuals who provide care to the ill or injured prior to hospital admission. Clinical Instructors deliver skills presentations and instruction in the UCLA Paramedic Education Program and are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month. Responsibilities include demonstrating equipment use, monitoring student performance, advocating for students, creating an active learning environment, ensuring course objectives are met, and assisting in developing educational goals and testing methods. This is a 10% per diem position. Qualifications
1. Current California licensure as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse, or the ability to obtain licensure in California. 2. Minimum of 1 year of field or clinical EMS experience. 3. Previous teaching experience (preferred). 4. AHA CPR provider certification, AHA ACLS provider certification, and AHA ACLS and/or PALS instructor certifications (preferred). 5. NAEMT PHTLS instructor certification (preferred). 6. Ability to work at least 2 weekdays per month. 7. Excellent communication skills. 8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 9. Capable of performing venipuncture and dermal punctures on training equipment, including administering intravenous lines. 10. Availability to meet scheduling requirements, including evenings, holidays, and weekends. 11. Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment. 12. Skills to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with colleagues. 13. Valid, unrestricted California driver's license and ability to drive a personal vehicle for off-campus instructional assignments or projects. 14. Ability to provide professional, courteous customer service. 15. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with supervisors, staff, students, and the public. 16. Physical ability to sit, walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance, occasionally handling weights up to 125 pounds. Capable of light to very heavy lifting (from 10 to 50 pounds), and performing physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing, including color perception.
