Job Description The Chemist III independently conducts research, analysis, and experimentation to develop ink, paint, and other chemical product formulations. This is a hands‑on position with significant time spent at the lab bench, along with associated administrative duties related to product development. The role involves collaboration with personnel in quality control, manufacturing, product management, and sales to support existing product lines.

Responsibilities

Develop and invent new products in line with company goals and objectives.

Collaborate closely with sales and product management to develop products meeting end‑user cost, performance, and color requirements.

Manage development projects by establishing and adhering to timelines, communicating progress, and maintaining detailed records.

Acquire thorough experience and knowledge of any new product uses and applications.

Troubleshoot chemical‑related production problems in conjunction with plant supervisory personnel.

Scale up new products to production size in conjunction with the manufacturing team.

Research and respond to customer technical questions as needed.

Develop formulas, processes, and methods for the solution of technical problems.

Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties.

Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.

Prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.

Maintain up‑to‑date lab notebooks detailing specific project work.

Prepare reports, write technical papers, and deliver technical presentations as appropriate.

Conduct technical training for internal and external customers.

Perform other duties as needed.

Essential Skills

4–7 years of experience in R&D product development for inks, paints, and coatings.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.

Experience in an industrial manufacturing setting following GMP standards.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $91,000.00 – $102,000.00/yr. standard benefits package

Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Elk Grove Village, IL.
