MUSCP - Certified Medical Assistant - Cardiology - Clements Ferry is hiring at MUSC Health. SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE! Located at the Clements Ferry Pavilion, the team includes RNs, LPNs and Medical Assistants who work with cardiology providers to care for patients. This position is primarily based in the cardiology area with opportunities to cross-train for other specialties. Schedule: Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays, with on-site parking. Responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. Duties include rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, returning patient messages, giving injections and assisting with minor procedures. Responsibilities
Ensure accurate calibrations, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA; tracked by documentation. Maintain and review patient records, charts and other pertinent information; document test and exam results; communicate plan of care to the patient and develop patient education materials as necessary. Maintain exam room supplies, instruments and cleanliness of the patient care environment as required. Maintain timely flow of patients, assist with scheduling of appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability; screen patients for appropriate information and provide patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment. Observe, record and report patient’s physical and psychosocial condition, reactions to medications and treatments to the physician; respond to and triage phone calls; follow physician orders for medications and treatments; distribute medications and manage samples as needed. Triages patients and prepares for physician exams and procedures; assist with exams, procedures and treatments; instruct patients in collection of samples and tests; administer prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician. Qualifications
CMA I Required Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. CMA Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, NAHP, MedCA, NCCT, or NAHP. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers is required. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk and sit; bend, kneel, climb stairs; reach in all directions; manual dexterity; vision 20/40 corrected; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; work in a latex-safe environment; occasional dusty or confined spaces.
