Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiologic procedures for evaluating pathological entities as ordered by a physician, using independent judgment for techniques, positioning, and safety practices. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the exam. Review clinical data, perform appropriate examinations, and obtain additional medical history as needed. Prepare the procedure room, replenish supplies, analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures. May administer intravenous contrast media, monitor for reactions, and provide immediate care if reactions occur. Follow radiation protection principles, including shielding and dose reduction techniques. Prepare sterile equipment and supplies, follow infection control practices, and ensure patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality. Complete documentation, logs, and patient records accurately. Educate and teach new hires and students as needed. Ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS, resolve image exceptions, and confirm image counts. Complete study indexing in RIS, review protocols with radiologists, and perform other clinical and billing documentation. Education/Experience Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Maintain required continuing education hours. Certifications/Licenses Required
Registered in Radiography with ARRT or eligible, with registration obtained within 6 months of hire if eligible. Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS). Additional Information
