Job Summary:
Assesses clients/patients/residents and designs occupational therapy treatments. Helps clients/patients/residents develop, maintain, and recover their ability to perform daily tasks. Conducts evaluations and provides interventions for those with functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments. Evaluates physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities, develops therapy goals, and administers therapy programs. Documents evaluations, establishes plans, and modifies them as needed. Provides education to enhance understanding and improve outcomes. Utilizes age-appropriate treatments and incorporates current research into daily practice. May treat individuals of all ages with various diagnoses. Ensures documentation complies with departmental and regulatory standards. Demonstrates treatment level appropriate to their specialty. Follows clinical practice guidelines and participates in departmental activities, including collaboration with external stakeholders. May supervise aides, assistants, and students, and provide ongoing education. Performs other duties as assigned. Work may focus on post-acute, long-term care, or home health environments depending on the facility.
Qualifications:
Education aligned with state licensure requirements. Must be licensed in the practicing state(s). Certification through NBCOT is preferred for Sanford Health Facilities. Valid driver’s license may be required. Maintains required competencies and certifications. BLS certification required within first 60 days. Recent graduates testing for licensure may be considered with a temporary license.
