Overview

The Respiratory Therapist I (entry level practitioner) performs routine respiratory care procedures for acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult patients. They can work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team, initiating and maintaining appropriate therapy, including life support techniques and equipment. The role provides, prevents, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in accordance with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and standards. Minimum competency in all applicable clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained. The therapist actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable rules and regulations from local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. The role is part of AdventHealth Tampa and supports a faith-based, not-for-profit hospital network focused on cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience, neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, womens services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year. AdventHealth Tampa also hosts the Pepin Heart Institute and the Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, contributing to cardiovascular care and clinical research. Responsibilities

Perform routine respiratory care procedures for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in acute or critical care settings. Initiate and maintain therapies and life support techniques and equipment as prescribed. Provide, prevent, supportive, and corrective interventions related to cardio-pulmonary health in accordance with policies and standards. Apply knowledge to interact effectively with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Demonstrate minimum competency in applicable clinical skills and maintain ongoing education and competency. Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain respectful professional relationships. Adhere to corporate compliance plans and all relevant regulatory requirements. Implement respiratory care strategies that are patient-centric, evidence-based, and aligned with disease management through protocol-driven assessment. Educate patients and families on therapy modalities to ensure understanding and safe technique. Apply AIDET and department-specific customer service expectations to enhance patient care. Demonstrate infection control practices and compliance with licensing requirements. Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to address issues affecting cardio-pulmonary care and overall patient safety. Assess and intervene on cardio-pulmonary function using age-appropriate methods per established policies and safety standards. Qualifications

Graduate from an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program with an AS or AAS degree. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required. BLS and ACLS certifications required. Graduate RRT with up to two years of acute care experience preferred. Current Florida State License as an RRT and NBRC RRT credential. Details
