Medina Hospital’s 3 South nursing unit is a 32-bed unit that specializes in general medical surgical care for adult and geriatric patients with an emphasis on observation. The unit cares for conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidney stones, and bowel obstructions, and may care for patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies.
As an RN Resident on this unit, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, interact directly with patients, families and visitors, and provide healthcare information as needed to enhance their experience.
Responsibilities
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
Document in patients’ medical records.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
New grad RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Preferred qualifications
for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Work Details A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
