This position develops and implements art therapy programs and ensures safe and appropriate therapeutic services are provided to the patient. Responsibilities include developing and presenting treatment methods suitable for patient needs and adapting interventions for individual and group formats.
Responsibilities
Use art therapy interventions to treat patients according to individualized treatment plans.
Provide safe and appropriate specialized programs.
Assess patients and establish treatment goals.
Develop and implement treatment programs to meet patient needs.
Evaluate therapy results and modify plans accordingly.
Develop discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, and team members.
Participate as an active member of the treatment team.
Contribute to quality improvement programs.
Assist in resource procurement.
Support orientation, supervision, and professional development of staff and interns.
Recommend and implement program changes with proper authorization.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to perform essential job functions.
Ability to communicate the purpose and value of art therapy to patients and teams.
Effective human relations and communication skills.
Ability to provide appropriate care to the patient population.
Ability to contribute to treatment goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Implement proper interventions based on assessed needs.
Monitor safety and address crises proactively.
Knowledge of lifespan development and ability to provide age-appropriate care.
Qualifications
Master's degree in art therapy from an accredited program.
Art therapist registration (ATR) within three years of full-time employment.
Licenses
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire.
Additional licenses as required by the department.
Preferred Qualifications
ATR or ATR-BC certification.
Two years of related experience.
Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands Must be able to meet physical requirements, including lifting and moving patients or equipment, with or without accommodations.
Physical Requirements Carrying, climbing, color determination, crawling, vision, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping, crouching, tasting, smelling, walking.
