United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) implements goals and strategies with children as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The bilingual speech therapist assistant will communicate services and treatment plans with the Spanish speaking families when required. The bilingual speech therapist assistant will have a mix caseload of English and Spanish speaking families based on referrals to the clinic.

Essential Functions

Conducts oneself ethically within the scope of practice and responsibilities for an SLPA according to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Performs tasks assigned by the supervising SLP. Assists SLPs in the provision of programming to children in individual and small group treatment sessions. Works as part of a comprehensive interdisciplinary team on the implementation of individual goals and objectives for each member. Attends and contributes to weekly staff meetings. Meets weekly with the supervising SLP to review caseload, revise goals, and discuss newly evaluated children and discharges. Ensures all reports and notes are completed on time and appropriately, providing adequate time for the supervising SLP to review and approve documentation and meet deadlines.

Other duties as necessary to achieve departmental and agency goals.

Minimum:

An associate's degree in an SLPA program. One year of previous experience working in a pediatric setting. Familiar with implementing speech-language therapy activities for children with a range of developmental challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.

Two years of previous experience working in a pediatric setting. Familiar with implementing occupational therapy activities for children with a range of developmental challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Licenses/Certificates

Must possess Registered Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License for the state of Arizona.

Requirements

Must meet agency licensure standards for fingerprinting, CPR and First aid. Advanced computer skills. Ability to use technology on hardware devices, mobile phones and software programs Must have reliable transportation with daily access to vehicle Bilingual Spanish/English

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit, stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, walk and run. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read, adequate hearing to perform job duties in person and over the phone.

Training Requirements

In accordance with UCP guidelines, it is necessary for employees to complete a series of trainings to meet the criteria for this position. The training department will provide a specific departmental guide for these requirements including additional updates.

Work Environment

The work environment could consist of an office environment, and natural environment of the children and families, with stationary office equipment or remote computer devices. Seniority level
