Overview The Maintenance Supervisor will direct maintenance activities in a safe, efficient manner, ensuring timely maintenance of all production machinery, equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Hours: 5:00 pm‑5:00 am (2nd Shift Weekend). Recruitment agencies are requested not to send unsolicited resumes.

Responsibilities

Works respectfully with all team members to ensure Safety, Quality, production, and support of our products and goals daily.

Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.

Actively participates in Marzetti Operational Excellence, special projects, task modifications, and derivative programs with prior approval.

Participates in department/shift/team meetings; follows up on improvement and resolution actions.

Safety

Maintains the highest standard of Safety and ensures compliance with OSHA standards.

Performs daily inspection of all required PPE including slip‑resistant/steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, shields, and aprons.

Acquires and maintains Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out certification and safely operates machinery per OHSA and company standards.

Inspects power equipment daily with proper documentation.

Completes Behavior-Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects identified issues, and participates in problem solving.

Quality

Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility.

Completes Behavior-Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues, and participates in problem solving.

Ensures compliance with quality, Food Safety Preventive Control, FSMA, Food Defense, OSHA, and other support programs; meets all company, customer, and government standards.

Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable SOPs for monitoring or verification; if qualified as a QI, follows SOPs accordingly.

Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality, and legality to management or the confidential hotline.

Functional Capability

Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement, and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers, and vendors.

Coordinates shift maintenance activities, ensuring objectives are achieved timely, cost‑effectively, and safely.

Manages the preventative maintenance program to keep equipment efficient and safe.

Controls audits, costs, labor, and downtime, minimizing overtime expenses.

Oversees adjustments to equipment to maximize production during shift.

Collaborates with other department managers to align maintenance activities with production schedules.

Schedules maintenance, coordinates changeovers, and ensures accurate reporting.

Maintains close working relationships with all departments and responds to deviations immediately.

Maintains positive employee, corporate, and community relations, interfacing with customer service, vendors, and contractors.

Ensures regular attendance per company policy.

Performs tasks as assigned by Management.

Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervises 2–15 employees.

Handles overall direction, coordination, and results of the maintenance department, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees.

Conducts initial and annual training to ensure qualification (QI) for all required job tasks.

Qualifications

3–5 years of maintenance experience, preferable leadership in a food‑related industry.

Ability to handle confidential information and correspondence.

Positive leadership and self‑motivation skills.

Must obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification; maintain per company and OSHA standards.

Strong organizational abilities, capable of multi‑tasking.

Knowledge of manufacturing staffing, scheduling, budgeting, equipment mechanical processes, and troubleshooting.

Ability to read and interpret written and verbal directions safely and productively in a fast‑paced environment.

Industrial Maintenance Degree or Mechanical/Technical School Certification preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.

Working Conditions/Environment Manufacturing environment requiring speaking, reading, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, grasping, and bending. Must move 75 lb over 25 ft. May work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts, and electrical shock risk. Noise level is loud. Personal protective equipment required: earplugs, safety glasses, beard nets (if applicable), hairnets, steel‑toed/slip‑resistant shoes, full‑face respirator; must maintain a clean‑shaved face.
