Jacobs is currently hiring a Process Mechanical Engineer in California. In this role you will lead the planning, preliminary and detailed design of pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants across the West Coast.

Base Pay Range $110,600.00/yr - $184,900.00/yr

Responsibilities

Plan, conduct preliminary and detailed design of pumping station systems and water/wastewater treatment plants.

Prepare specifications, drawings, P&IDs, technical reports and other documentation for pumping system projects and plant upgrades.

Produce general arrangement drawings, design piping and pumping systems, and oversee construction activities.

Evaluate and select equipment, piping materials and valves; assist with facility layouts; develop calculations, process flow diagrams, control narratives and construction documents.

Coordinate with other project disciplines, direct CAD designers, and produce construction documents.

Conduct occasional field activities such as site assessment, data collection, analysis, and documentation.

Serve as Process Mechanical Discipline Lead: oversee process mechanical teams, provide overall leadership, act as point of contact for the practice, set standards and best practices, and mentor the team.

Work across core water technical areas including Drinking Water & Reuse, Municipal Wastewater, Distribution and Conveyance, Water Resources and Industrial Water.

Collaborate with Global Integrated Delivery teammates to deliver solutions to clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university or college.

Minimum of 8+ years of experience designing water, wastewater, or stormwater pumping system projects and preparing construction documents including drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical memoranda.

Active CA professional engineering (PE) license.

Experience with Hydraulic Institute standards.

Strong analytical, conceptual, problem‑solving and organizational skills.

Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.

Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.

Ability to self‑motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as AFT Fathom or Pipe‑FLO.

Experience assisting in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling.

Experience working with construction management staff to ensure that construction, installation, and testing conform to specifications, codes and standards, and client requirements.

Experience during construction including installation, startup, and/or troubleshooting.
