About the Position In this role, the Toolmaker will be a key contributor in delivering first‑class tools, fixtures, and prototype parts for upcoming and ongoing projects. Successful execution of multiple projects ensures timely delivery of products that safely and efficiently meet mission‑critical, life‑saving applications demanded by our defense customers. The Toolmaker directly supports engineering and manufacturing to create, maintain, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. These tools are essential in building components that meet product specifications and help ensure the efficiency and consistency of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, construct, assemble, and alter/repair a wide range of tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, and gauges to tight tolerances.

Create precision tools, dies, and fixtures based on technical drawings and related documentation.

Set up and operate a variety of machine shop equipment: lathe, vertical mills, drill presses, surface grinders, saws, welders, etc.

Read and interpret drawings for tools, fixtures, and machines with a conceptual understanding of GD&T.

Diagnose and correct complicated machining and tooling issues.

Recommend repair or modifications of tooling or equipment.

Conceptualize tooling from product requirements.

Actively learn new methods and techniques in machining, fabrication, welding, and additive manufacturing.

Maintain a strong focus on precision and quality, including tight tolerances.

Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure quality of product and functionality of tooling.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship or U.S. person status required.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.

5+ years manufacturing or tooling experience required.

Mechanical understanding of machines and small parts tolerances.

Understanding of CNC and EDM equipment.

Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of theory and use of tools and fixturing in a production environment.

Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings for conversion into parts.

Hiring Preferences

Tooling certification or technical degree in toolmaking or related discipline.

Experience in semi‑automated industrial environments.

Experience with high‑precision presses, tooling, and dies.

Experience with welding/metal joining (TIG, solder).
