Job Title
Engineer I-III (Utility)
Job Summary Performs a wide variety of reliability related activities related to improving the overall reliability performance of distribution lines. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
Responsibilities
Provide technical reliability guidance to the Distribution Field Engineers, Designers, and Distribution Line groups regarding distribution line reliability.
Work with Distribution Line Personnel and Asset Management to identify and prioritize the portfolio of reliability projects, and ensure that projects are in alignment with budget.
Provide overall project management for reliability project portfolio within the assigned engineering region.
Provide root cause analysis for distribution line outages and power quality events that affect customers e.g. using field investigation techniques and FALLS software to determine if lightning was a root cause.
Review and recommend for approval electrical designs that comply with company standards with an emphasis on reliability, which enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
Provide quality control audits post construction to ensure that designs are built accurately and meet or exceed reliability standards.
Provide ad hoc reliability reports using Power BI e.g. SAIFI and SAIDI analysis.
Perform engineering analysis to aid in reliability and corrective measure projects.
Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
Minimum Requirements
Utility experience is highly preferred.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.
Minimum Experience Required
Engineer I - 0 to 2 years experience.
Engineer II - 2+ years experience.
Engineer III - 4+ years experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Technical mastery of engineering principles. In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions. Mentors other engineers and technical professionals. Good leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Excellent math, project management, PC operations, National Electrical Safety Codes. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities and work under pressure. Commitment to safety and customer service. Diversity and process improvement mindset.
