Responsibilities
Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance.
Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
Completes detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision; replaces defective components as instructed.
Performs facility maintenance duties and interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation; works in compliance with safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate guidelines.
Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and accesses internal/external maintenance documents.
Provides other support duties to assist operations, including Service Island support.
Achieves SBTIII training within 180 days and completes OEM On-Line diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational or technical certification or degree preferred.
Basic tools required.
Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred; other certifications as required by location (required).
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy- and medium-duty equipment.
Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.).
Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle checks for last 3 years.
