Analyzes and corrects electrical problems, installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. Responsibilities
Install power supply wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus for new machines and equipment, including robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers. Connect power supply wires, cables, and wiring between machines and equipment. Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical components such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays, switches, printed circuit boards, and electric motor bearings. Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with other maintenance workers to identify and resolve issues. Program and operate automated machinery using robot controllers, teach pendants, and programmable controllers to verify functionality and repairs. Plan and install wiring layouts, conduit, and electrical systems in vessels. Diagnose and repair faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. Inspect electrical systems and identify potential hazards or needed repairs. Follow safe working procedures in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Determine replacement needs or new materials and develop logical approaches to resolve problems. Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to install, repair, calibrate, or replace electronic devices and systems. Receive and follow instructions, specifications, and diagrams from supervisors for scheduled and emergency electrical work. Apply thorough knowledge of electrical theory, statutory codes, material properties, and equipment operation principles. Start up and shut down equipment safely, following company and OSHA procedures. Install, repair, and maintain communication and power distribution cables, including splicing and servicing electronic components. Minimum Requirements
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journeyman level or higher competency. Certified in ‘HOT’ work. Certified in application of ARC FLASH controls. Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of 4-years of related experience. Work environment and physical demands
Work environment: Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, high places, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. May involve electrical shock risk. Physical demands: Stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb stairs or ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
