VRX is currently seeking an Airport Project Manager (PM) with aviation runway, taxiway, and airport operations experience. The candidate should have 5 to 10 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager, guiding design, construction, inspection, and quality assurance on airfield runway and taxiway projects (concrete, drainage, grading, lighting, and coordination with airport operations personnel).
Job Responsibilities
Assist Airport Planning in developing initial project documents, including capital budget estimates, schedules, SMBR requirements, scope definition, and project management plan.
Coordinate with other airport departments (Capital Delivery, CPEAT, DSD, Finance, etc.).
Perform QC checks on own work product and that of staff.
Prepare RFQ/RFP packages for design and/or construction services and coordinate review with client staff; assist with presentation development, ATC meetings, council preparation, and RCA documentation.
Coordinate planning and stakeholder design coordination.
Evaluate PDD scope of work and recommend modifications to stay within predetermined budgeting and scheduling parameters.
Report on progress (weekly status reports, integrated program schedule, airline technical committee ATC, etc.).
Support and supervise outreach activities for CMAR/Design‑Builder.
Review and approve invoices.
Obtain and procure design, construction, QA/QC services and consultant services.
Coordinate project permitting and approval through local, state, and federal authorities.
Assist in coordination with the project design team and client/stakeholder reviews, securing agreements with stakeholders.
Analyze and manage eCAPRIS reports including cost, earnings, and contingency.
Manage the project’s budget, GMP review, and negotiations when required.
Understand contract requirements, airport design intent, and municipal requirements.
Collaborate with pre‑construction and design teams to prepare, review, and monitor all cost information.
Manage the contract change order process including review of contractor estimates, negotiation, and obtaining approvals.
Work with Finance to initiate pay application process and follow up for timely payment.
Attend contractor progress (OAC) meetings, punch walks, mock‑up reviews, etc.
Review scope changes, submit CORs for approval, and manage RFIs, submittals, RFQs, and RFPs.
Close out the design review process and support field activities for the Construction Manager.
Manage project close‑out: prepare final records (As‑Built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties) for successful turnover.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
5 to 10 years of project management experience on aviation/transportation improvement projects.
Preferred licenses/certifications: PE, CCM, PMP.
Experience with providing constructability review comments.
Proficiency with P6.
Must be able to obtain airport SIDA clearance and qualify to drive in the Airfield Operations Area, if required.
Strong communication skills.
