Director of Student Information Services Responsibility for the oversight, collection and reporting of the district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data and Office of Civil Rights (OCR) data
Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree or demonstrable equivalent
Special Knowledge/Skills
Extensive knowledge of the PEIMS Data Standards, Student Attendance Accounting Handbook, and TEC Chapter 37
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in a public‑school student information system inclusive of demographic, course, staff, discipline and special program data
Proficiency in Microsoft Office toolset including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project, and other reporting and analysis tools
Knowledge in a variety of FISD business operations, including associated business processes, PEIMS, and OCR reporting in a public school reporting
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, collecting and analyzing data, developing recommended measurement metrics, and providing supporting documentation which lead to the establishment of improved business processes and best practices
Ability to develop training materials and provide training to large and small groups
Ability to interpret error codes in HTML
Ability to run SQL
Experience in working with OnData Suites or other PEIMS Data Validation Software
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience collecting and analyzing data preferably in a public school setting
Experience in PEIMS collection methods
Prior PEIMS Submission Experience Preferred Prior OCR submission experience preferred
Responsibilities
Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission according to PEIMS Data Standards.
Complete all PEIMS submissions, including the fall, mid‑year, summer and extended year programs reports to the state.
Complete OCR reporting.
Edit source data in various software applications.
Run PEIMS edits, reports and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information.
Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
Comply with the district standards for Texas and Federal attendance accounting laws and procedures in the Texas Student Attendance Accounting Handbook.
Comply with the district standards for Federal enrollment laws and procedures in the Texas Student Attendance Accounting Handbook and the PEIMS Data Standards.
Monitor data quality in compliance with Performance Based Monitoring.
Complete PET reporting (PID enrollment tracking) as required by TEA PEIMS.
Develop and maintain a strong sense of customer service while working.
Communicate with various stakeholders including campus personnel, district and state administrators, other districts’ PEIMS personnel, and software vendors.
Develop training materials and train and monitor personnel in areas related to PEIMS compliance.
Train staff on Texas and Federal laws and procedures in OnCourse Discipline Management and Reporting as described in the PEIMS Data Standards.
Train and monitor campus personnel on TREx submissions.
Train and monitor campus personnel on PEIMS daily attendance.
Monitor data entry of student special programs and coordinate with Directors of Special Programs for data verification and accuracy.
Assign unique IDs for students.
Work alongside Finance to ensure HR and Financial data is accurately reported.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Information Services.
