Job Summary The Corporate Café Leader will lead a team of Food Service Professionals responsible for running the café located in the Denny’s Corporate Support Center (“The Den”). This team will serve fellow Support Center coworkers during office hours, both in a café setting and in an internal catering program.
The responsibilities include proper execution of café operations, managing ordering and production of food, creating and planning weekly specials, providing guests and coworkers with a great dining experience, and upholding service and quality standards. The Manager has total accountability for the success of the cafe. The Manager must have a strong commitment to guest satisfaction and exhibit Denny’s Guiding Principles when interacting with others.
Hours of Operation:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Typical Work Days:
Monday‑Friday (work outside these days/hours may be required sparingly for special events).
Key Responsibilities
Creates food prep and station assignments for the team of Food Service Professionals, overseeing their activities and execution of standards.
Assists in the achievement of controllable profit goals by monitoring controls and taking corrective action to achieve the desired results.
Develops and coaches team members on brand standards, corporate policies and procedures, and other guest‑focused programs/activities to meet or exceed guest service standards.
Builds great teams: innovates to attract, hire, onboard and retain best hourly talent to meet staffing requirements and guest service standards; addresses employee relations issues, deviations from brand standards, and other guest issues to the attention of the GM; recommends corrections and participates in resolution as required.
Develops hourly team members through corporate training programs, individual development plans, and system assignments.
Promotes and manages food safety, cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas (where applicable).
Creates an enjoyable and respectful environment for guests and team members.
Maintains compliance with all employment policies and brand standards, including all state, local and federal regulations.
Follows management cash handling, inventory and other operational procedures as outlined in brand standards.
Orders food, paper and cleaning supplies in accordance with par‑level guidelines.
Executes the catering program, including accepting orders through the internal system, delegating execution to the team, and collecting payment.
Assists the Restaurant Excellence team in testing and evaluating new products, procedures and equipment.
Collaborates with Product Development to identify opportunities to test new product innovation in The Den.
Completes all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
Minimum of two years experience in restaurant, hospitality or retail management; additional operations and/or leadership experience strongly preferred.
Food Safety Supervisor certification required or obtained within 30 days.
Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Possesses basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Places a value on diversity and shows respect for others.
Proven ability to problem‑solve and handle high‑stress situations.
Interprets financial statements and understands contributing factors.
Identifies and anticipates opportunities for improvement and implements corrective action steps.
Licensed to operate an automobile without hours of operation restrictions.
Has reliable transportation suitable for use in the event that errands outside of the office are needed.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Must be able to lift a tray weighing up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; place items on high and low shelves in office, storerooms, service areas, walk‑in coolers and freezers.
Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, grasp and lift up to 40 lbs.
Must hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs.
Must meet any state, county or municipal regulation pertaining to health‑risk concerns about food handling.
Must operate a point‑of‑sale system and differentiate between monetary denominations.
Must work with all Denny’s Corporate Café menu products.
Must work with potentially hazardous chemicals.
Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in confined work areas.
Must work inside and outside the restaurant.
Must observe staff and all aspects of restaurant operations.
Typical Pay Range For This Role Is Minimum: $21.80 – Maximum: $29.92
