General Description of the Role The Distillery Quality Specialist supports Distillery Operations for Campari, ensuring adherence to all quality control systems designed to maintain continuous production of products consistent with established standards, specifications, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities And Activities
Follow prescribed PPE safety and clothing requirements.
Ensure suppliers and vendors comply with relevant ISO and food safety standards.
Perform routine chemical, sensory, and biological analytical testing.
Provide accurate measurement data by ensuring tests are done per procedure and results are documented.
Assist in managing laboratory instrumentation (calibration, validation, troubleshooting).
Ensure compliance of all Global End‑to‑End testing, including GC and distillery testing.
Set up, tear down, and analyze sensory samples for Single Barrels, Distillate, Anniversary Samples, etc.
Maintain laboratory records (lab notebooks).
Ensure materials and products throughout distillation comply with specifications.
Conduct and oversee inspection activity for materials throughout production cycle.
Help develop quality inspection and testing procedures and criteria.
Work with distillery employees on inspection and testing activities.
Ensure products meet highest quality standards.
Comply with all GMP, ISO, and food safety standards.
Work with stakeholders to resolve identified quality risks.
Collaborate with Regional and Global Quality teams to resolve critical quality issues.
Interpret quality control philosophy and communicate to key personnel outside Campari’s Quality Department.
Ensure all required testing is completed in a timely manner to meet operational needs.
Identify and participate in cost‑saving measures supporting supply chain.
Accurately complete and record testing and equipment records per retention policy.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Key Relationships
Internal: Campari’s Lawrenceburg Site Quality Team, Regional and Global Quality Management, R&D and Technical Teams, Environment, Health, and Safety Department, Distillery and Site Operations Management, Distillery Operations Staff.
External: TTB, suppliers of laboratory equipment and materials/chemicals, instrument manufacturers’ technical service representatives, raw material and ingredient suppliers, third‑party consumer feedback and advocacy groups.
Experience Required
1–3 years of experience performing analytical testing in chemistry/biology (college coursework included).
Industry experience in a manufacturing QC lab performing physical/chemical/biological analysis is highly desired.
Minimum 1–3 years with Microsoft Excel.
Experience in food/beverage, beverage alcohol, or distillation industries is a plus.
Background in advanced chemical analysis (GC, GC‑MS, HPLC, etc.) and sensory analysis is a plus.
Experience performing analytical methods as per established procedure.
Experience working with high‑performance teams.
Education / Professional Qualifications
Required: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Quality, Food Science, or related field.
Skills
Strong chemistry and mathematical skills.
Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous materials, laboratory chemicals and equipment.
Capable of performing sensory analysis for products containing alcohol; may be required to pass a screening test.
Ability to analyze statistical data to establish quality of end products and in‑process materials.
Provide technical support to teams.
Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
Problem analysis and resolution skills.
Effective verbal and written communication, including interaction with internal and external customers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of TTB regulations, ISO requirements and HACCP is a plus.
Essential Job Functions

Strong analytical skills to read and analyze available data.
Follow technical directions reliably.
Work independently and prioritize/multi‑task in a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
Physically able to navigate a plant/production environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
