Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will function as a rotating generalist in two or more sections of the laboratory (microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry/Microscopy). Responsibilities include specimen receiving and processing; computer-related duties such as patient entry, test request entry, online/manual entry of test results, data retrieval, printing and answering worksheets, printing panic and pending log sheets; phoning panic values and documenting in the computer system; quality control; reagent preparation; and following general laboratory safety procedures including universal precautions and chemical and biochemical hazard precautions. Specific duties will also be performed within the Microbiology, Hematology, and Chemistry/Microscopy sections of the laboratory. Minimum Qualifications:
NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical laboratory experience required. Candidates with less than 2 years clinical laboratory experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Must be able to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory tests. Preferred Qualifications: Work Days:
2:30 pm - 11:00 pm, holidays and weekends on rotation. Salary Range/Pay Rate:
