Job Summary

The licensed pharmacy technician may work across various settings, including hospitals, retail, and ambulatory infusion clinics. They may specialize in roles such as pharmacy buyer/inventory specialist, automation technician, IV room sterile processing technician, IV chemotherapy technician, or medication reconciliation technician. Work assignments will align with the technician's skills and be coordinated with pharmacy supervisors or directors. Note: Technicians in physician-based ambulatory clinics are not required to be licensed by the State Board of Pharmacy, but HonorHealth policy requires licensing for flexibility across practice settings. Essential Functions

General duties:

Practice within all applicable regulations, prepare prescriptions (sterile and non-sterile), manage unit doses, operate automated dispensing machines (Lynx, Pyxis), manage inventory, monitor expiration dates, maintain workspace cleanliness, and document temperature logs. Specific skill duties:

Depending on specialization, duties include sterile compounding (e.g., chemotherapy, TPN), inventory management, automation oversight, and medication reconciliation. Each role has specific responsibilities to ensure compliance, safety, and efficiency. Education

Completion of a formalized Technician Training Program (preferred) High School Diploma or GED (required) Experience

Proficiency in sterile intravenous compounding (preferred) Basic hazardous compounding skills (preferred) Minimum 2 years pharmacy technician experience or completion of a formal training program (required) Up to 3 years of experience in retail, hospital, infusion clinics, medication reconciliation, or wholesaler settings (preferred) Licenses and Certifications

Current licensed Pharmacy Tech by AZ State Board of Pharmacy (required) Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) by PTCB or ExCPT (preferred) Pharmacy Technician Diploma (preferred)
