Nurse Practitioner – Clinical Specialist II (APRN), Adult Outpatient Psychiatry
Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a well-respected, nationally recognized, and award-winning public healthcare system, is seeking a Clinical Specialist II (APRN) to join our Adult Outpatient Psychiatry service. CHA comprises three hospital campuses and an integrated network of primary and specialty outpatient care practices in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s Metro North Region, with a fully integrated electronic medical record system (EPIC). The Department of Psychiatry at CHA is recognized for excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. The Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department offers comprehensive psychiatric services, including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatments. This position provides an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team of talented clinicians affiliated with Harvard Medical School, in a system dedicated to serving minorities and disadvantaged patients with diverse mental health needs. 36 Hours/week; Days/Evenings, MNA Cambridge Union Provide evaluations and treatment for an assigned caseload of clients, offering a range of psychosocial care. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and program leadership. Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure smooth patient flow. Participate actively in the Quality Improvement Program. Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical standards in collaboration with colleagues. Assess medication needs and prescribe medications following established guidelines. Administer medications according to nursing policies and procedures. Work with the medical director on psychopharmacologic treatment and consult with Geriatric Service and Mental Health staff on treatment plans, including psychoactive medications. Provide mental health consultations to staff of nursing homes, community clinics, and caregivers, and organize case conferences as needed. Candidates must maintain current Basic Life Support “C” Certification and hold certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing by the American Nursing Association. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in an advanced practice role, be graduates of an accredited National League of Nursing graduate school of nursing, and possess a Master’s degree (preferably in Nursing) with specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing or a relevant clinical area. Current Massachusetts licensure with prescriptive authority as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialist is required.
