Education/Licensure/Credential

Have earned a minimum of an associate degree and must hold an RT (R) or RCIS (Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), or ARRT-R Radiography or an imaging credential.

Role & Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, helps Physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency care during procedures. Contributes to the orientation and training of other team members. Assists in daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.

Assist with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.

Follow radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff; provide emergency procedures like CPR and defibrillation as needed.

Perform pre- and post-procedure care and monitoring; orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures.

Monitor patient ECG, pressures, temperature and impedances in the Electrophysiology Lab; notify physician of variances.

Assist in operating RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and document procedural data.

Manage images and data across cardiac and peripheral cases; ensure proper documentation and quality data.

Prepare and maintain sterile fields; order and maintain inventory of procedure room supplies; ensure equipment is stocked and not expired.

Coordinate resources during inventories; calibrate and maintain complex equipment and notify for fixes.

Assist in orientation and training of new staff and students; participate in quality initiatives and governance as assigned.

Transport patients to and from procedural areas; demonstrate customer service skills.

Key Success Factors Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree in a related field, or completion of US military training with experience equivalent to an Associate's degree, or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience.

On-Call: Available for on-call requirements per facility/department policy.

Knowledge of complex invasive cardiac and vascular procedures, anatomy and physiology.

Qualifications Education: Associate's degree or equivalent work experience

Certification/Registration: ACLS and BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer

ARRT-R Radiography, RCIS/RCES/CEPS/CCDS or equivalent cardiovascular imaging credentials per Texas Medical Board requirements; various options may apply
