at the University of Chicago Medicine with the

Pediatrics Team

at our main campus in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL. Open positions support Pediatric patient populations. In this role, the

RRT

administers respiratory care treatments, procedures, and protocols under the supervision of department leadership and physicians for the pediatric department. Provides patient assessment to determine cardiopulmonary status, implements appropriate care protocols, and supports weaning and management of ventilation as appropriate. Essential Job Functions

Administers supplemental oxygen/medical gas therapy as prescribed or via department protocols; documents procedures in the EPIC electronic medical record. Administers intermittent or continuous medication delivery therapy (bronchodilators, steroid therapy, mucolytics, etc.) per physician order or department protocols; documents procedures in EPIC in real time and assesses patients during administration. Performs bronchopulmonary hygiene, suctioning, and airway care; applies airway clearance techniques per physician order or department protocols; documents in EPIC per hospital policy. Initiates and maintains non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and handles emergent and non-emergent NIV adjustments for patient comfort and effectiveness; documents in EPIC. Initiates, maintains, and weans mechanical ventilation per physician order or established ventilator protocols; conducts complete patient assessments and documents in EPIC. Ventilator management including NIV and mechanical ventilation; monitors patient parameters and documents results in EPIC. Performs Arterial Blood Gas analysis per guidelines; troubleshoots ABG analyzers and documents results with quality control as required. Provides patient transport within the facility on oxygen delivery systems and mechanical ventilators as needed. Required Qualifications

Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Program (minimum two years). Diploma or Certificate of Completion and Associate’s Degree from an accredited program. Effective communication and documentation skills. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by The National Board for Respiratory Care. Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Basic Life Support Healthcare provider (American Heart Association). Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification; PALS or ACLS preferred depending on patient care area. Position Details
