Job Summary:
The phlebotomist conducts specimen collection and processing with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, completeness, safety, and compliance while maintaining a professional image and adhering to our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Responsibilities
Follow proper specimen identification procedures during specimen collection and labeling.
Collects, prepares, processes, stores and/or transports specimens using correct techniques and anticoagulants.
Receive incoming phone calls, documents, and follow through on incoming requests.
Investigate, document, and resolve specimen issues to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
Performs housekeeping tasks involved in maintaining the laboratory in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
Train new students, staff and document proficiency as directed.
Effectively use computer options relevant to job duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
HS diploma or GED from an accredited school required. Phlebotomy certificate preferred.
