Research Technician (PRN-Staff Wage)

The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Technician to assist with trials centering around diabetes. Shifts will be variable in time and location and may include weekend, evening, or daytime hours. Most shifts will involve patient contact. Incumbent must be able to follow HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information and be reliable and detail oriented.
The preferred candidate should have experience with Windows and the ability to learn and troubleshoot new technology. An understanding of Android cell phones and Bluetooth technology is beneficial.
Prefer candidates who have prior experience working in a laboratory and have CPR, CITI, and Bloodborne pathogen training.
Other duties may include but not limited to:
Monitoring and troubleshooting a computer system, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Android phone during a clinical trial.
Data maintenance, which may involve compiling, coding, categorizing, and storing data in an electronic format.
Handling and processing lab specimens.
Organizing, setting up, and cleaning study devices
Compensation range $15-18/ per hour depending on incumbent experience.
This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link:
