Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Project Manager (PM) on pre-design due diligence and project research tasks.
Support day-to-day project coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Actively participate in project coordination meetings with design consultants, clients, and permitting agencies.
Prepare and monitor project budgets for smaller, less complex projects, ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency.
Manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of all phases.
Serve as assistant project manager or project engineer, acting as the primary client contact for assigned projects.
Assist in coordinating pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
Contribute to the preparation of engineering agreements within the department.
Conduct design computations and quantity estimates for various project components.
Develop probable construction cost estimates for departmental projects.
Attend client meetings as required, including both daytime and evening sessions.
Manage work-in-process, ensuring accurate client billing and tracking outstanding accounts receivable and collections.
Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs for effective project planning and design.
Direct and supervise activities of other engineers, ensuring compliance with project standards.
Handle routine contract administration to maintain alignment with project specifications.
Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules and other project-related documents.
Instruct draftspersons and technicians in translating designs into working drawings.
Visit construction sites to monitor progress, verifying adherence to contract documents.
Serve as the on-site project representative when necessary.
Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare essential engineering and design documents.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a master's degree can be an advantage.
Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience navigating state (Florida) and local (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties) permitting processes, codes, and applications.
Demonstrate proficiency in CAD software, with a preference for Civil 3D.
Have at least 3 years of experience in land development design, including:
Site planning
Development of marking, signage, and striping plans
Design of water and sewer systems
Implementation of stormwater management systems
Have 3+ years of experience in stormwater modeling, utilizing ICPR or similar software.
Exhibit strong communication and writing skills.
Experience in civil engineering or a related field, often with exposure to project management and client interactions.
If not currently a Professional Engineer (P.E.), must be within two years of obtaining P.E. licensure.
Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements relevant to civil engineering projects.
Basic project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and document control for smaller projects.
Strong analytical skills for interpreting and applying engineering principles and for problem-solving.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and participate in client and team meetings.
