The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose responsibilities cover decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing requests from customers or providers. Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (AND) Central Service Technology Course/Or Equivalent Work Experience

(at least one year of experience in central sterile processing) Licenses & Certifications:

Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD Work Experience:

One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required Communication Skills:

Above average verbal communication; heavy public contact; bilingual skills preferred; legible writing Other Skills:

Medical terminology (surgical/medical), critical thinking, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, ability to lead projects, monitor and interpret gauges, research surgical instruments and supply companies; PC skills appropriate to job requirements Work Schedule:

Weekends, holidays, flexible, on call Equipment Operated:

Sterilization and decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, incubators, bar code scanners, temperature monitors, equipment gauges, visual screen monitors, digital camera, inter-department paging system
