Mobile Youth Crisis Clinician – PRN / On‑Call
Base pay range: $75.00/hr – $75.00/hr. This on‑call position generally works evenings and weekends.

DGS operates offices in Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Lewes, and Seaford and is the only statewide not‑for‑profit outpatient behavioral health organization accredited by JCAHO. DGS offers outpatient counseling, group therapy, parent‑child interaction therapy, school‑based services, and a 24‑hour statewide Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) that dispatches skilled crisis clinicians to children experiencing behavioral health crises.
Position Highlights
Additional on‑call rate of $50/hr
Summary / Objective Under the supervision of the Crisis Clinical Coordinator, the Crisis Clinician will provide rapid response screening, assessment, and counseling intervention services to youth and families experiencing urgent psychological and emotional problems. The incumbent is responsible for conducting risk assessments, consulting with supervisors or DPBHS workers, and delivering short‑term therapeutic crisis intervention services for up to 30 days, along with thorough documentation from intake through discharge.
Essential Functions
Risk Assessment
Maintain professional, trauma‑informed, and empathetic interactions during crisis.
Use critical thinking and risk management skills to determine the least restrictive level of care.
Recognize warning signs and risk factors for suicide and harm to others.
Plan for safety and provide evaluations, diagnosis, and therapeutic crisis services to children, adolescents, and families.
Case Management
Provide therapeutic recommendations and referrals for assessments and follow‑up services.
Communicate with DPBHS team and other stakeholders to maintain a systems‑based approach.
Document accurately and timely.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
Administer solution‑focused and trauma‑informed interventions to maintain safety, build skills, and improve communication and relationships.
General Responsibilities
Uphold professional standards, ethics, and conduct.
Provide goal‑directed and team‑oriented services.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Participate in clinician on‑call rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (accredited).
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a Human Services field.
Education/Training in suicide risk prevention and intervention.
Supervisor None.
Employment Type Full‑time.
Work Environment Community‑based; office location in Lewes, Dover, or Newark, DE. Travel to client locations required.
Availability
New Castle County – PRN 4 pm–12 am (Sat/Sun), PRN 12 am–8 am (Mon‑Fri)
Kent County – PRN 4 pm–12 am (Sat/Sun), PRN 12 am–8 am (Mon‑Fri)
Sussex County – PRN 4 pm–12 am (Sat/Sun), PRN 12 am–8 am (Mon‑Fri)
