Overview Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. has an immediate opening for a highly motivated
Textile Development Engineer
based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the innovation and growth of our advanced window treatment solutions. As a key member of our cross‑functional engineering team, you will lead the adoption of new fabrics into our product portfolio, ensure excellence by maintaining and enhancing the technical and operational specifications of our existing fabric offering, and deliver quality by resolving fabric‑related product issues ensuring our materials exceed customer expectations. In this position, you will empower our teams by providing accessible, accurate technical data to support the sales, selection, and specification of Lutron Window Treatments.
This role offers you the chance to collaborate across departments and with external partners, influencing both product development and customer satisfaction making a lasting impact on our company's growth and end user experience.
Responsibilities
Lead fabric development projects
from concept through execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals
Drive textile R&D initiatives
to support innovation, enhance product performance, and expand our fabric portfolio
Develop and maintain engineering documentation , including textile specifications, test methods, and process standards
Collaborate with textile vendors
to understand and improve their processes as well as develop fabrics that meet Lutron's world class performance standards
Apply statistical analysis
to diagnose and resolve fabric‑related technical issues, identify root causes, and propose actionable recommendations
Work cross‑functionally
with engineering, product management, and operations teams to support both new product introductions and existing product improvements
Continuously improve processes
for greater efficiency, reliability, and scalability across textile development workflows
Champion safety and compliance , ensuring all activities adhere to internal standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Design, or related field
Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned
4+ years of experience in the textile industry (onsite textile manufacturing experience is a plus)
Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 15% of the time to Textile Suppliers and Lutron's manufacturing facilities
