Position Purpose
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the assembly of all mechanical components of automation equipment per supplied mechanical drawings and the assembly of pneumatic components. Will also be performing the mechanical portions of testing, debugging, installing and repairing automation equipment. The Mechanical Technician has a full understanding of Bill of Materials and the ability to work with others.
Responsibilities
Assemble complex mechanical components per supplied mechanical drawings.
Basic understanding of GD&T.
Use adhesives properly and accordingly.
Subassembly installation and alignment.
Understand materials and tolerances for Fastener Torque Specs.
Understand and use torque sequence.
Proper use and blocking of Arbor press.
Order of operations.
Sensor installation and set-up.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Good knowledge of pneumatic control and common devices.
Excellent documentation ability.
Skilled in interpreting mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
Skilled in the use of basic hand and power tools, especially hex keys, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, cutting tools, measuring tools, drills, and grinders.
Basic knowledge of machine shop practice using conventional and CNC machine tools.
Ability to use CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Cadkey, AutoCAD and Inventor to create drawings highly desired.
Ability to use PCs for word processing, navigate the Internet, and utilize internal systems for drawing access, component tracking, email, etc.
Ability to perform from oral or handwritten instructions.
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to read, write and understand English.
Knowledge of general safety standards.
Education and Experience
2+ years of experience as a mechanical technician with recent high tech mechanical assembly experience required.
High school diploma/or equivalent are required for this position.
Machining experience preferred.
2+ years experience in the installation of equipment on the customer’s site preferred.

Work Environment
Working conditions include the possibility of working long hours during project deadlines and moderate workload pressure.
It requires operating power tools and working on automated equipment in various states of production.
This job operates in an industrial automation environment. Subject to hazards common to automated industrial machinery.
May include domestic/international travel for installation and support (requiring current passport).
Onsite requirement.
