As a Landscape Assistant, you will: Maintain a high-quality landscape in assigned area, which includes but is not limited to planting, plant care and maintenance, waste and litter clean-up, and soil renovation, Remove snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, ramps, drives, and other areas using manual and powered equipment. Perform planting, weeding, fertilizing, and pest control tasks on lawns, shrubs, and trees using appropriate equipment. Operate and maintain equipment, tools, and machinery. Assist with landscape maintenance, renovations, and repairs. Mow lawns and prune trees and shrubs using manual and powered equipment. Inspect and monitor assigned areas and ensure deadlines for projects and tasks are met. Maintain records, forms, and work orders. Minimum Required Qualifications Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions. Thinking and reasoning skills. Thoroughness and attention to detail. Good time management and organizational skills. Familiar with and able to operate tools and machinery. Able to work from a ladder and/or aerial equipment. Ability to frequently travel to various work areas on campus and work in all weather conditions. Available 24/7 for snow and ice removal emergencies. Ability to obtain a Nebraska Dept of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator license within six months of hire (on-the-job training and license fees are provided). Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirement. Preferred Qualifications Horticulture degree or related field, relevant coursework, or specialized training beyond high school. 2+ years experience in grounds keeping and/or horticultural. Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ) license.
