Provide liaison duties between the engineering department and manufacturing to assure that the manufacture or purchase of products meet functional requirements at the lowest possible cost. Maintain constant surveillance of product design and manufacturing processes for the purpose of reducing and controlling costs. Participate in product realization process. Work closely with all departments in scrap reduction, molding, and finishing to ensure continuous improvement and conformity to customer requirements. Recommend foundry process improvements and utilize advanced engineering techniques for problem resolution (FMEA, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.). Responsibilities

Development, improvement and maintenance of process tooling and associated equipment. Support the sales team and customers to develop business winning solutions (engineering, cost, productivity, quality, etc) to grow MTIs business. Assist in sample submission process. Investigate and assist in corrective/preventative actions for reported concerns. Establish and maintain customer files, including engineering standards, blueprints and other associated materials and information. Perform the job in accordance with all established procedures and work instructions. Ensure tooling meets customer requirements per established specifications. Has the authority to remove any tooling from production should a quality problem occur. Perform a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner. Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, tooling, and related matters. Monitor assigned operations to assure compliance with current project schedule and approved methods of quality standards. Recommend design modifications or process changes where justifiable by cost/design studies to permit manufacture by the most favorable method. Work with assigned customer accounts on product and tooling designs. Procure production tools and work with existing products to optimize efficiencies such as scrap, yield, molding rates, etc. Coordinate activities with pattern shop. Follow 5-S guidelines for office order and plant floor organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of 2D, 3D and CAD/CAM system. General understanding of Magma simulation software. Ability to plan for and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills for presentation and technical report writing. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T. Ability to understand and implement APQP, PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans. Ability to use advanced engineering techniques for problem resolution (FMEA, design of experiments, etc.) Ability to prepare jobs for running on Magma simulation software. Knowledge of company products, competitor products, and supplier capability. Expert knowledge of casting processes and methods. Knowledge and understanding of B&L system for tooling and requisitions. Working Conditions

The Process Engineer will reside in the office and on the production floor. Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant. Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time on their feet 50% on the production floor. Must be able to move about inside the office and in the plant. This position will operate a computer and other machinery in the plant. Must be able to frequently communicate with employees and other individuals in person and telephone. Education and Experience

BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Approximately 2-5 years of professional engineering experience. Extensive experience of engineering related computer systems/capabilities ( AutoCAD, Creo, MAGMA etc. )
