Responsibilities
Strong ability to setup and run all standard axis (5 axis preferred), numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill
Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
Self-sufficient with all aspects of machine set up on machines within their area of responsibility
May provide training, set-up, tool adjustment, trouble shooting, etc., support to others
With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts computer numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications
Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments/offsets and console settings
Operations include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations
Education
Machining Training Certificate preferred
Experience 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist IV or 5-6 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist
Skills / Knowledge
Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
Proficient in use of shop math
Limited technical supervision
Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
Physical Requirements
Lifting up to 40 pounds
Frequent walking and standing
Occasional sitting
