Associate Director of Product Management - CA
A global leader in the development and manufacturing of OTC, POC and laboratory/hospital diagnostics medical diagnostic products, focusing primarily on point-of-care testing is seeking an Associate Director of Product Management for its CA location. Their product range includes rapid tests for infectious diseases, blood glucose monitoring systems, and clinical chemistry devices, among others. With a commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable diagnostic tools, they aim to enhance patient care and support healthcare providers in making informed clinical decisions. The Associate Director of Product Management will lead & manage the Marketing Department. He/She will develop and implement strategic marketing plans, staying abreast of changes in the marketing environment to best serve the objectives of the organization and adjusting plans accordingly. He/She will manage the design control process, product marketing cycles, product management teams, marketing strategies, and key business partner relationships in a development environment. Required Experience:
7-10 years of progressive experience in U.S. product development. A scientific or technical background is required. Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or scientific discipline. Knowledge & Skills
Key Duties, Activities and Responsibilities: Understand Design control process and lead product development projects. Proposes new products in line with business strategy & objectives. Participates in overall product strategy & planning, R&D requirements, development, & manufacturing coordination for the product with the new product development team & upper management. Proposes & evaluates requests for product modification and/or improvements relating to performance, packaging, etc., and manages product development team efforts & team meetings throughout design control phases toward implementation of the modification. Conducts continuous product/market trend surveillance & produces/maintains competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors. Provides technical expertise to other departments & customers. Provides marketing/product management review & sign-off of customer complaint files for relevant product lines and/or customers. Develops Marketing & Financial Plan, including financial justification for product. Completes competitor analysis comparing proposed product with key competitors. Provides technical expertise & training to internal colleagues & external key customers in support of new products. Manages Professional customer account(s) in a Program Manager role. Reviews and revises distribution agreements with support from legal counsel. Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; mentoring, coaching, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work Experience, Skills and Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or scientific discipline. 7-10 years of progressive experience in U.S. product development. A scientific or technical background is required. A minimum of 5-7 years Marketing Management experience in the medical device industry, IVD preferred. Strong organizational, leadership and project management skills are required. Must be able to think strategically and handle multiple projects. Ability to learn and assess new technology quickly. Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously & complete projects with tight deadlines. Must be a self-starter & work well independently. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Language Skills
Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
