Production Scheduler – Forest Park, IL – VetJobs

This on‑site position welcomes Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers.

Due to the highly interactive and team‑based nature of this role, in‑person attendance for most of the workweek (at least three days) is essential for effective communication, supervision, real‑time problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain short‑term production schedules aligned with manufacturing resources.

Act as the first line of contact for plant production managers to provide insight on order prioritization and requirements.

Create shift‑based production plans considering capacity, labor, and materials while optimizing factory costs.

Collaborate with factory teams to identify potential issues, communicate solutions, and manage impact on the schedule.

Utilize SAP for scheduling, capacity planning, and updating production orders.

Ensure the weekly production plan is optimized for minimal changeover time and that all orders are linked across assets.

Verify component availability across network, factory, or transit.

Coordinate consolidation of attainment and adherence comments and perform root‑cause analysis.

Inform Supply Planning of deviations due to unforeseen circumstances (asset breakdown, labor constraints, material shortages).

Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance costs and efficiencies.

Schedule new product trials and interpret trial results for future production requirements.

Analyze data such as material availability, inventory levels, production rates, and delivery timelines.

Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure accuracy in scheduling and documentation.

Track production details to avoid bottlenecks and communicate changes or delays promptly to stakeholders.

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams: engineering, purchasing, quality control.

Work on a rotation as required.

Qualifications Minimum Education: High School / GED.

High attention to detail.

Strong organizational, time‑management, and analytical skills.

Proficient at completing technical filings.

Strong communication and collaboration skills across all factory levels.

Minimum 2‑3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with production scheduling, material handling, or supply chain management.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

SAP experience is preferred.

Compensation The salary range for this position is $68,625 to $96,075 annually.
