Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of well‑funded career telecom and construction professionals. We look to leverage the latest technologies, best‑in‑industry equipment, and up‑to‑date construction and safety practices to build a first‑class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES A Construction Project Manager is responsible for understanding the project deliverables and creating timelines for different individuals and groups involved in the project to make sure the project remains on track. They must be familiar with the goals of the project and the responsibilities of all involved parties. Duties and responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
Daily management of construction vendors to expedite the construction and splicing of fiber networks.
Oversees timely permitting submittal and on time performance of engineering and construction vendors.
Provides direct interface with customers, subcontractors, jurisdictional authorities and interoffice personnel.
Managing both internal and external risks within the project’s lifetime, such as poor planning designs, and government policies, which directly or indirectly affect the project.
Procuring and allocating resources to ensure there is no shortage while avoiding any unnecessary delays caused by management decisions.
Support in the development of RFI/RFPs for the engineering and construction of new projects.
Creates and tracks project budgets in relationship to Network Operations.
Develop and update processes and procedures to streamline workflows.
Ensure that all work is maintained in a tracking system with complete accuracy.
Required occasionally to meet with various municipalities and vendors to review project scope and to ensure positive communication is maintained.
25% Travel Required
Qualifications
Must have (4) years of familiarity with all types of outside plant construction and experience managing large capital projects.
Must have (2) years of all Telecom construction and design aspects, especially for FTTx.
Must be able to manage multiple aggressive RFP and design construction schedules and responses.
Must be able to understand and read construction documents.
Must be comfortable delivering reports directly to the CEO.
Ability to lead a team by being a good and effective communicator.
Ability to maintain a high level of organization by ensuring daily job allocation.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Excellence in the budgeting of financial resources.
Proficient with Email, MS Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), G Suite (Sheets, Slides, etc.) and Google Earth.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Strong background in field management.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Process and documentation orientation, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Zoho, and project management tools a plus.
Understanding of utility construction processes and terminology a plus.
