The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, part of the Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine, seeks a Specialist for a genetic analysis research project. Responsibilities
Assist with running pipelines on a Unix-based high performance compute cluster (HPC) for rare and common variant analysis, polygenic risk score calculations, and visualization of the results. Write and run code in the R programming language. Assist with data management and data cleaning. Contribute towards team meetings, interpretation and presentation of results, and writing of a manuscript. Qualifications
Applicants should hold an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Computational Biology or Statistics/Computer Science with an emphasis in bioinformatics, computational biology, or statistical genetics. The applicant should be familiar with R and have previous experience with running analysis pipelines in Unix on a high performance compute cluster, programming in R, and analysis of sequencing data, especially single-cell sequencing data.
