licensed clinical mental health professional
to join the clinical team in the Health and Human Services Agency as
Infant-Early Childhood Mental Health Therapists . This newly created position will provide support to parents and caregivers of young children who are experiencing unprecedented challenges and hardships resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic. These challenges can significantly impact parent's and caregiver's parenting and emotional connection with their children.
Individuals selected for these positions will:
Demonstrate a strong foundation and understanding of childhood development and infant-early childhood mental health needs. Partner with local pre-k programs and childcare centers to identify children with mental health needs that would benefit from mental health treatment and support and coordinate the referral process. Partner with local Pre-kindergarten programs providing clinical interventions that support children in engaging in social and emotional behaviors that are appropriate for their age, increasing their development and school readiness. Identify the unique social emotion needs of young children and create treatment plans based on those individual needs. Provide individual therapy with the child and their family using evidence based assessments and planning. Demonstrate an understanding of how chronic stress can negatively impact our families’ abilities to experience success and provide adequate support and nurturing to their children. Promote the relational health of infants, young children, and their families. Partner with community-based childcare workers in early childhood settings to identify social and emotional needs of children in their program and develop opportunities to enhance children’s overall health, development, and wellbeing. Other duties include: Support parents and caregivers to create a nurturing parent-child relationship that enhances their young child’s overall development. Learn and teach techniques to parents and caregivers that support healthy social emotion development in their children. Provide in-home sessions with families creating a therapeutic relationship that focuses on the family’s strengths and needs. Develop strong clinical evaluations, develop, and monitor treatment plans, and conduct initial intake assessments. Document services and submit billing information for reimbursement. Identify and utilize appropriate evidence-based practices to enhance childhood well-being. Provide parents tools to navigate challenging behaviors and feel confident in their parenting. Support families in addressing the social-emotional and mental health needs of very young children and their families through the promotion of high-quality interactions and environmental experiences. Hours:
-8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. -Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations. Salary Information: The
hiring range
for this position is
$62,126 - $83,870.50.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.
Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work. Required Education and Experience: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
OR Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) OR Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA).
Provisionally licensed candidates may be considered as well, although priority consideration will be given to candidates with full licensure.
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling. Two (2) years or clinical work experience. Out-of-state candidates that hold a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license
may be considered for hire but must apply to the LCMHC NC board to obtain an LCMHC license before being hired. What will make your application stand out: Previous experience working with children under 5 years of age. Valid Driver's License and good driving record required at time of application. Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required by first date of employment with good driving record. Funding: Funding for this position is appropriated through the ARPA and is expected to last through June 30, 2024, depending on the availability of the appropriated funds. Once appropriated funds are exhausted, a request to fund this position beyond June 2024 is expected to be included in the ongoing budget.
