Position Summary This position processes District and Superior Court criminal files from open to close, accepting charging documents, issuing summons and/or arrest warrants, calendaring cases for arraignment, coordinating prisoner transport, and entering case data into the case management system. The role also involves responding to inquiries by court personnel, attorneys, other agencies, and the public, running designated reports, receipting monies for bail, fines, court costs, and restitution, and serving as backup in‑court clerk as needed.

Legal Right to Accept Employment The State’s online recruitment system, Workplace Alaska, requires applicants to certify a legal right to accept employment in the United States. Work Hours Full‑time court employees are scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one‑hour lunch break.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.

Substitutions:

Additional office clerical work experience substitutes for the high school diploma or GED on a month‑for‑month basis.

Completion of 36 semester or 48 quarter credit hours of accredited college coursework substitutes for the required office experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course (legal secretary, paralegal, office skills, etc.) substitutes for the required office experience on a month‑for‑month basis.

Required Documents for Application Post‑secondary transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications.

Documents to be Submitted at the Time of Interview

Copies of the most recent (2) performance evaluations, if available.

A list of three (3) professional references with supervisory authority, including daytime contact phone numbers and email addresses.

Other Information NEPOTISM REVIEW: Applicants who have a spouse, close relative, or regular household member employed by the Alaska Court System may not be considered for employment without approval of the Administrative Director.
