Job Objective: Under the direction of the Cardiac Services Manager and Executive Director of Cardiology and Interventional Services the individual provides technical assistance in Cardiovascular Laboratory operating radiologic equipment, and assisting in diagnostic, invasive, and surgical procedures Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A. Operates radiologic equipment Positions patients for invasive procedures relative to patient's condition and vasculature, to produce optimal study Operates /positions detectors for fluoroscopy imagining Maintains optimal performance and safety of radiological and radiological related equipment Ensure all images are successfully migrated to PACS Post processing of images as required by the department B. Maintenance of radiologic equipment /supplies Maintains lead for cath lab department according to regulatory standards Maintains tabulation of radiation exposure times and contrast totals for each procedure Maintains weekly fluoroscopy equipment quality control C. Patient Care Assists physicians during procedures as scrub personnel Assists physician by providing necessary supplies/equipment during procedure Assist in transporting patients to and from treatment cardiovascular lab Working knowledge of ancillary equipment used during procedures Participation in patient education Non-Essential Duties: Answers phones Schedules procedures Prepares and distributes daily schedule Send films and reports to physicians as needed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge Working knowledge of vascular anatomy Knowledge of coronary views to acquire imaging Knowledge of contrast media and the appropriate usage Knowledge of radiation protection for personnel and patients Knowledge of ancillary equipment including but not limited to IVUS, FFR, IABP, ECT, Knowledge of supplies used for various invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures Knowledge of Sterile Gowning/Gloving, Aseptic/ Asepsis technique and surgical instruments Skills Skills to provide correct positioning for radiological imaging of patients for invasive procedures relative to patient's condition and anatomy. Skill to obtain and position appropriate radiographic views used in coronary, visceral, peripheral, and cerebral angiography Skill to assist physicians as scrub personnel during procedures. Abilities Ability to operate digital recorder and roadmap system Ability to operate and position image detectors to achieve optimal images Ability to operate angiographic pressure injector Ability to set up sterile table/field for invasive and surgical procedure Ability to remove arterial and venous sheaths under RN supervision Ability to assist physician during procedure as a scrub personnel Core Competencies: All AVH employees will effectively demonstrate these behaviors: Accountability Action Oriented Customer Focused Compassion Effective Communication Teamwork Ethics & Values Integrity & Trust Education and Experience: Education High school diploma or equivalent Completion of studies in radiological studies Experience Minimum of 2 years experience Required Licensure and/or Certifications: BCLS Current CRT certification from the State of California, issued by the Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Section. Current Fluoroscopy Permit from the State of California, issued by the Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Section, Current ARRT certification, issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Requires the use of lead aprons during procedures with approximate weight of lObs A detailed description of the physical requirements of this job is maintained in the Employee Health Department.
