Overview Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Clinical Lab - Full Time 8 Hour Nights (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Base pay range: $46.00/hr - $76.07/hr

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological and/or Blood Bank analyses on varied patient specimens, maintaining a high degree of accuracy, reliability and productivity.

Recognizes normal, abnormal, unusual and critical results and takes appropriate action as established by laboratory policy, including considerations for the age of the patient.

Communicates results and carries out additional clinical and clerical duties to meet the needs of the Department.

Ensures results are available within defined turnaround time (TAT) guidelines.

Interacts effectively with co-workers, hospital staff and clinical personnel; participates in the Department’s Quality Assurance Program and continuing education sessions.

Monitors supply levels and assists in inventory management; participates in training personnel as needed.

Functions independently, prioritizes work, and assists others when workload allows.

Adheres to Safety / Infection Control guidelines and uses personal protective equipment as required.

Maintains knowledge of all procedures and instrumentation in assigned areas and understands the clinical significance of each test performed.

Identifies and corrects problems that may affect test performance or reporting of results; performs calibration, maintenance and quality control as required by policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the supervisor; adheres to hospital and departmental policies.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Specialized/technical training for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist or California Specialty (Limited) License.

Strong organization and time-management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work with physicians, staff and professionals across settings and locations; promote diversity in the workplace.

Sensitivity to academic disciplines and issues.

Knowledge of GMP (FDA, AABB, and State requirements) and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of experience as a licensed CLS.

Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Microbiology (ASCP).

Required Licenses/Certifications

Clinical Laboratory Scientist - CLS or Limited license from the State of California.

Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card at hire, obtain within 30 days and maintain renewal; required within LA City only.
