Overview The Research Project Advisor supports the Director of COE in the development and implementation of research programs, including project planning, identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and disseminating research findings through presentations and publications. This role involves actively participating in national meetings and conferences to identify potential collaborators and sponsors, while maintaining relationships with colleagues, the National Institutes of Health, and other funding agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Partnerships

Develop and maintain community-focused partnerships in the catchment area to advance CSC’s Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) aims, including needs assessments, cancer prevention/control programs, policy initiatives, and clinical trial accruals.

Manage the Community Advocates Committee to strengthen bidirectional engagement with community stakeholders.

Research and Program Development

Support departmental research and programmatic initiatives and identify new funding opportunities.

Collaborate with director, researchers and teams to evaluate feasibility, design studies, and plan projects.

Participate in the development, implementation, and dissemination of research and outreach projects.

Grant Writing & Dissemination

Prepare and contribute to grant proposals, scientific manuscripts, and presentations for academic and community audiences.

Represent CSC at national meetings and conferences to build collaborations, identify sponsors, and share research findings.

Collaboration & Compliance

Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, the NIH, and other funding agencies.

Ensure compliance with federal and local regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, IRB, GCP, HIPAA).

Support cross-disciplinary activities bridging laboratory, translational, population and clinical research teams.

Additional Contributions

Contribute to research process improvement, quality assurance, and departmental problem solving.

Help develop curricula and coordinate scientific events, symposia, and special projects.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Research, or related field required.

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience providing research program and project support, including grant development, partnerships, and scientific dissemination.
