University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, UHealth at SoLé Mia, is opening a full‑time Medical Assistant position to support physicians, nurses, and patients in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment.

Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) 1 assists providers with clinical procedures, patient care, and clinic operations under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Core Functions
Abides by standards for ethical behavior, therapeutic communication, and patient privacy.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Prepares treatment/exam rooms and supplies for examinations.
Prepares patients for physician's care with basic instructions.
Performs routine laboratory tests and records results.
Conducts vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and documents in medical records.
Observes and reports changes in patient signs or symptoms.
Administers medication safely under physician direction.
Assists patients with mobility and escorts them to hospital locations.
Core Qualifications Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Certification and Licensing
CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants).
RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (American Medical Technologists).
CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (National Healthcare Association).
NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NHA – NCCT).
NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP).
Non‑certified MA must provide proof of completion from an approved educational program and sign an agreement to obtain nationwide or statewide certification within 12 months.
Additional Certification
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
HIV & AIDS Certification (Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE).
Experience No previous experience required.
