The
Behavioral Health Therapist
role is licensed at a post‑master's degree level. This counselor primarily provides brief and intensive therapy to individuals, children, adolescents, families, and/or groups to ameliorate identified problems and restore the skills and abilities needed to manage life and interact positively with family and community. Responsibilities
Provide brief and intensive individual and group counseling to clients of all ages. Conduct family and couples counseling. Use therapeutic interventions to address a range of behavioral health issues. Offer crisis intervention and advocacy as needed. Perform substance‑abuse screenings and deliver related support services. Education
Graduation from an approved and accredited school with a master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or another related field. Associate degree in an addiction‑related field for the Licensed Substance Abuse Associate. License and Certification
Current license in New Mexico at the master's level (e.g., LMSW, LPC). CPR certification required. Preferred: LCSW or LPCC; Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA) or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Experience
Completion of internships during or after achieving the master’s degree under appropriate supervision. One to three years of experience working with substance‑abuse issues. Experience with treatment of substance abuse, group work, and family/couples counseling. Preferred Attributes
Bi‑lingual: proficiency in English and Spanish. Seniority Level
