This Research Technician role within the 4‑CYTE Collaboratory, Department of Biomedical Sciences, plays a vital role in executing molecular and cellular biology experiments, including DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, and western blot. The position involves small rodent surgeries, histological analysis, rigorous documentation to ensure data integrity, management of lab supplies and equipment, adherence to safety and ethical standards, and communication of findings to the research team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day hands‑on operational molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry experiments, following established protocols and standard operating procedures, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and conducting quality checks on reagents and samples.

Perform small rodent surgeries and post‑surgical care, as well as histological analysis as required.

Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and documentation to ensure reproducibility and integrity of all results.

Manage laboratory supplies and equipment, organize samples and reagents, and stay informed about new developments in relevant scientific techniques.

Communicate progress, challenges, and results clearly to the principal investigator and the research team, assist in troubleshooting and optimizing experimental protocols, and prepare data for reports and publications.

Supervise student employees, including hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and termination of assignments.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.

Required: Basic knowledge of neuroscience and cell biology.

Required: Experience with molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry techniques.

Preferred: Hands‑on research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
