Lab Assistant
Location: Seattle, WA 98134
Shift: Tuesday to Saturday 6am – 2:30pm
Job Summary Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist laboratory professional staff and to facilitate production.
Responsibilities
Sorting and receiving specimens in the department.
Perform routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
Perform laboratory tasks including centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (temperature charts), specimen storage and retrieval.
Prepare reagents and/or media in the department.
Prepare specimens at workstations for testing (including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, slide preparation).
Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
Resolve pending lists.
Find missing samples.
Decontaminate work areas.
Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
Maintain files for department records.
Change gas cylinders.
Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations.
Use the laboratory computer system and operate PCs.
Dispose of biohazardous material.
Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.

Qualifications
Minimum 2–3 years of laboratory assistant experience.
High school diploma or equivalent. Medical assistant training helpful. Math and science courses preferred.

Ability to retain information once learned.
Ability to interact with coworkers, internal and external customers with courtesy and respect.
