Athletic Trainer - Duke North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic Job Location:

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer in our Duke North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. This position may involve duties in small clinics, large medical practices, multi-clinic networks, or specialty offices, including clinical and administrative tasks as needed. Job Duties And Responsibilities

Patient Care Responsibilities - rooming patients, collecting histories, documenting first-pass HPI, charting, answering phone calls, completing forms, teaching HEP, and walking with crutches. Clerical Duties - prepping clinics, obtaining test results, updating charts, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, coordinating referrals and appointments. Fulfills EOC Responsibilities - cleaning exam rooms, ordering and stocking supplies, restocking exam rooms, cleaning exam tables, and maintaining a safe work environment by checking for expired supplies and medications; emptying sharps containers. Organizational Duties - promoting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and following HR, Compliance and Joint Commission policies. State-law-based duties - autoclaving, checking vital signs, suture removal, dressing changes, entering orders based on physician protocols, biohazard waste handling, and applying DME to patients. As assigned by clinic leadership, develop the ability to remove casts, apply basic splints and cast extremities, and accurately fit DME products used in the clinic. Some athletic trainers may be assigned to evaluate patients during their first post-operative visit with a physician or APP present; notes generated by the ATC will be co-signed by the MD or APP. Other duties as assigned by your manager or Health Care Agency. Job Eligibility Requirements

A four-year college degree meeting the requirements of an athletic trainer; must obtain a license to practice in North Carolina from NCBATE. National BOC certification Licensed by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners Current CPR certification Job Hours
